Amar K Ambani, Executive Director, YES SECURITIES, on the markets
“Indian equities are navigating a challenging year, with the Nifty down ~10% year-to-date and staring at the possibility of its first negative calendar-year performance since 2015. While the recent recovery from the 22,200 levels is encouraging, the Nifty remains in a broader consolidation phase, and a return to fresh lifetime highs may be difficult in the near term.
Having said that, this Samvat presents a hugely attractive opportunity to significantly increase equity exposure. A wide range of stocks are looking extremely oversold, and valuations have become compelling at approximately 17x FY28E and potentially 15x FY29E earnings.
As investors become more discerning about AI-related valuations and growth expectations, the focus is likely to return to fundamental metrics such as sustainable earnings growth and return on equity. On these parameters, India remains exceptionally well positioned as the fastest-growing large economy. Its underlying growth story remains intact, supported by resilient domestic demand, infrastructure investment and manufacturing expansion.
There are, however, several structural headwinds that investors must factor in. Elevated global yields, geopolitical uncertainties, crude oil prices, currency pressures, continued FII outflows and the supply overhang from primary market issuances are likely to remain relevant. Even if some tax-related relief for foreign investors materializes, a meaningful and sustained return of FII flows may take time. Global capital will continue to evaluate opportunities in high-yield markets as well as AI and other capital-intensive global themes. Consequently, domestic liquidity is likely to remain an important anchor for Indian equities.
While we are beginning to see signs of large-cap leadership emerging, broader market participation will be essential for a sustained rally. The coming year is likely to truly be a stock picker’s market, with returns driven increasingly by earnings delivery rather than valuation expansion.
We expect the Nifty to deliver single-digit return over the next 12 months. However, this near-term consolidation must not be confused with a lack of opportunity. From a 3-5-year investment horizon, the market looks hugely attractive. This is an opportune time for investors to build positions in fundamentally sound businesses that have undergone significant price corrections, while maintaining adequate liquidity to navigate near-term volatility.”

Gold and silver demand ahead of Dhanteras and wedding season by Vikas Gupta – CEO & Strategist at OmniScience Capital
“In India there are two kinds of demand for gold and silver. One is the inelastic demand which happens on Dhanteras and other festivals, as well as, for the wedding season primarily. There is a certain minimum amount of gold to be bought, depending on the socio-economic and cultural groups, for a wedding. Two is the elastic demand which is related to the price action and speculation as to where the price is going. This demand increases when the expectations of price increases are high. These are usually based on the recent past price action. The Dhanteras volumes are likely to be flat to higher. Wedding season is likely to be slightly higher given that the price of gold had increased significantly and dropped, giving the feel of being able to afford more gold for the same amount of money, anchored to the peak price of gold. Gold as an investment continues being favoured by Indians.”

Gold outlook before Dhanteras by Deveya Gaglani, Senior Research Analyst - Commodities, Axis Direct
Domestic gold prices have corrected by more than 22% from their 2026 peak. This downturn is primarily driven by heightened inflation concerns stemming from a sharp surge in crude oil prices, which has temporarily dampened the appeal of the yellow metal. Geopolitical gridlock is exacerbating this trend; the absence of a US-Iran agreement has injected a significant risk premium into oil markets. Speculation that Donald Trump may resume airstrikes on Iran following the midterm elections continues to apply downward pressure on gold.
In the short term, gold faces continued downside risk and is expected to consolidate, as it is currently trading below its critical support zone of $3,960. With markets pricing in an anticipated Federal Reserve rate hike in December 2026, we expect further price corrections, potentially driving the metal down to test the $3,700 and $3,600 support levels. Despite these near-term headwinds, current price levels present a highly attractive entry point for long-term investors, particularly those who missed the previous year’s rally. Factoring in the current negative catalysts, the remaining downside risk is limited to approximately 5% to 8%. However, the macroeconomic landscape could shift favorably in the medium term. If a geopolitical peace agreement is reached in the coming months and inflationary pressures are curbed, the Federal Reserve may pivot toward rate cuts—a move that would serve as a powerful long-term catalyst for gold prices.
Investors are advised to begin accumulating gold in a staggered, systematic manner at these lower valuations. We maintain a long-term bullish outlook with a price target of 165,000 to 180,000 levels by next Dhanteras.

Impact of the US elections on the Indian markets by Vinit Bolinjkar – Head of Research – Ventura
“The Democrats’ sweep of both chambers of Congress could be a near-term positive for Indian equities, as checks on abrupt US policy changes improve risk sentiment. The clearest opportunity is lower oil: Brent’s 8.7% decline on November 4, amid hopes of easing Iran tensions, should support fuel- and crude-linked cost structures at IndiGo, Asian Paints and CEAT, while potentially aiding BPCL and HPCL’s marketing margins. Conversely, sustained lower oil prices could weaken realisations for ONGC and Oil India. Softer US yields and a weaker dollar may also support the rupee and foreign portfolio flows. However, tariffs and immigration restrictions remain partly within presidential authority, so export-oriented textiles and IT services companies such as TCS and Infosys cannot assume immediate relief. Pharmaceutical exporters also face US pricing-policy uncertainty. We favour selective domestic cost beneficiaries over a blanket election-driven rally, with crude prices and policy follow-through the key variables.”

Commodity Outlook | Ashish Rajodiya, Head of Commodities, PL Capital
Gold rose about 3% to above $4,040 an ounce on Wednesday and silver gained more than 4% to near $52. The trigger was the Democrats’ win in both chambers of Congress, which pushed the dollar to a one-month low and Treasury yields lower. A divided Congress raises the odds of gridlock and tighter federal spending, which eases the case for heavy government borrowing. Silver moved more than gold because its market is smaller and part of its demand is industrial.
The rally comes even though the Fed still leans hawkish. Rates were held at 3.75-4.00% last week with two policymakers favouring a hike, and futures put the chance of a December hike near 80%. Unresolved US-Iran tensions continue to support safe-haven demand.
Gold’s gains now depend on yields staying lower. A rebound in yields or a December hike could take back part of the jump, while a weaker dollar and persistent geopolitical risk would help it hold.

Crypto market today: Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42, writes
“The cryptocurrency market has witnessed a strong rebound, with Bitcoin gaining nearly 4.7% to trade around $80,500, while Ethereum has outperformed with a 6.9% surge to approximately $2,420. XRP has also participated in the recovery, trading near $1.30. The rally follows heightened volatility surrounding the US midterm elections, with improving market sentiment and short liquidations driving the upward momentum. Nearly $975 million worth of positions were liquidated over the past 24 hours, largely involving traders betting on further declines. Ethereum’s stronger performance reflects renewed buying interest, although the extent of short covering suggests that sustained momentum will depend on fresh capital entering the market.
Looking ahead, Bitcoin’s ability to consolidate above the $80,000 mark will be crucial in determining the next market direction, while Ethereum’s movement towards $2,500 could indicate further upward momentum. Investors should closely monitor trading volumes, liquidation activity and broader macroeconomic developments to assess the strength of the recovery. Rather than chasing sharp price movements, a disciplined approach with staggered entries, appropriate position sizing and a focus on key support levels would help investors navigate the current market environment. Sustained buying activity across major cryptocurrencies will be an important indicator of whether this rebound can develop into a broader recovery.”

US midterm results and implications: Tanay Dalal, SVP - Business & Economic Research, Axis Bank writes
“The weaker-than-expected Republican performance in the US midterm elections has renewed debate around the future trajectory of US trade policy and its implications for ongoing trade negotiations with India. While the composition of Congress is unlikely to materially alter the institutional framework governing current trade discussions, the political signal from the election outcome may prove more consequential. Any attempt to restore congressional authority over trade policy would require a veto-proof majority, which remains improbable, while judicial challenges to existing tariff measures continue to face significant uncertainty.
More importantly, the election results may indicate diminishing political support for tariff-intensive trade policies. Several states that have been disproportionately affected by trade disruptions and tariff-related costs, including Texas, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, Kansas and Maine, witnessed a decline in Republican vote share. While tariffs have not materially altered aggregate economic performance, with growth remaining resilient, their costs appear to have been concentrated across specific regions and sectors, increasing their political salience. This aligns with evidence from previous election cycles suggesting that the economic costs of tariffs can influence electoral outcomes at the local level.
Against the backdrop of a divided government and increasing political constraints on the administration, the scope for pursuing aggressive trade actions may gradually narrow. To the extent that a moderation in tariff policy reduces supply-side frictions and imported cost pressures, it could also contribute to a more favourable inflation outlook and, over time, create greater room for monetary policy easing.
For India, however, the risk environment remains nuanced. US trade policy is likely to continue reflecting broader geopolitical considerations, particularly with respect to the Ukraine conflict and spillovers of Middle-East dynamics into the Democrat voter base. While the broader direction of travel may be towards reduced tariff activism, India could still remain vulnerable to targeted trade measures where strategic and geopolitical interests intersect.”

Democrats take Congress: What it means for markets & the economy -- Ankita Pathak, Head – Global Investments, Ionic Asset writes
There are many intertwined implications that will become clearer once the oath is taken in January. a) For the tech trade, the surprise Texas win puts the heart of the US data centre buildout under political pressure, so expect more scrutiny on power costs, grid strain and permitting. AI capex continues, but power becomes the bottleneck to own. This is negative tech, the futures fell sharply but then dip buyers came in. A lot of pain in tech has happened a month prior (NDX 100 down 9.8% since Oct-6 highs) so could be in the price b) Gridlock limits new fiscal spending, which is softer for US yields, especially at the long end, but higher inflation for longer could limit yield softening. c) With Netanyahu losing majority, the risk of escalation of US-Iran war could ease, however, that still remains an unknown factor amid possibility of a coalition government in Israel. d) Potentially softer yields and lower geopolitical risk weigh on the DXY, and if that holds, it will likely be positive for gold, EM and commodities. A year after a midterm have historically been good for equities, and we stay constructive, diversified across DMs and EMs and across AI and non AI trades. From here, inflation, yields, the dollar and US-Iran matter more. One big overhang on the market will be behind us after this event and has historically given way to the year-end Santa rally in next 3 months.

BTC crossed $81K as a broader rally across crypto and equity markets followed the US midterm elections. The rally was supported by improving risk sentiment, with investors expecting greater political certainty. BTC’s open interest also rose 1.61%, suggesting fresh market participation. $80K remains as a crucial level for sustaining bullish momentum, with $79K acting as the next support. Bitcoin has moved back above $80,000, gaining around 3% after Democrats secured control of both chambers of the US Congress. While the outcome was largely anticipated, the rebound triggered nearly $330 million in short liquidations within an hour, adding to the upward momentum. Historically, Bitcoin has seen post-midterm weakness, with prices falling to cycle lows in the weeks following the 2014, 2018 and 2022 elections before gaining around 25%–90% over the next year. However, uncertainty around the passage of the CLARITY Act over the next two years and $514 million in November ETF outflows continue to weigh on sentiment. Bitcoin needs to break $82,000, with $78,000 as key support, said Prateek Gupta, Head of Business, Mudrex

Market review by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Bitcoin is recovering after a volatile stretch. It traded near $80,460 in a November 5 market snapshot, up about 3.94% over 24 hours. The rebound follows a sharp correction and comes as investors digest the US midterm-election outcome and easing ETF redemptions. Immediate support is around 78,000-78,600. A break below could expose 74,400-76,500, followed by $75,000. Resistance is near $80,000, with the 30-day moving average around $81,319. A sustained move above this level would strengthen the recovery.
Institutional flows are showing tentative improvement. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $643.2 million in net outflows on October 30, followed by $398.6 million on November 2 and $115.6 million on November 3. The November 4 session then saw a reported $35.1 million inflow. The reversal is modest, but it marks a break in the recent outflow streak.
On-chain indicators remain mixed. Bitcoin’s November 4 analysis placed the True Market Mean near $77,700 and the short-term-holder cost basis around $75,700. Only about 38% of short-term holders were in profit, while spot volume remained roughly 1.5 times its pre-rally level. The market has absorbed heavy selling, but this does not yet establish a durable accumulation trend.
Large-cap altcoins are participating in the rebound. In an Indian-market snapshot at 5:43 a.m. IST, Ethereum traded at Rs.2,29,219, up 6.36%. BNB was at Rs.68,082, up 3.08%. XRP stood at Rs.123, up 2.12%, while Solana traded at Rs.9,030, up 2.83%. TRON was at Rs.30.19, down 0.94%. These are indicative INR market quotes, not synchronized USD prices.
Macro signals remain important. The Fed held its target range at 3.75%–4.00% in October. Reuters reported that markets were assigning an 81.2% probability to at least a 25-basis-point December rate hike. US jobless claims and productivity data are due November 5, followed by the October employment report on November 6. Strong labour data could reinforce rate-hike expectations and weigh on risk assets.
Our advice: Treat the rebound as an early stabilisation attempt, not a confirmed trend reversal. Watch ETF flows, Bitcoin’s 78,00-78,600 support zone and the US labour data before adding risk.

Lenskart: Jefferies on Lenskart maintains Buy, Target Price Rs 780; Strong growth and sharp margin expansion continue to support the company’s compounding story. Hustlr Club, experiential retail format Evolv and smart glasses are expected to widen its customer base and provide additional growth opportunities. Margin progression remains on track towards the 25% EBITDA ambition, although management is prioritising growth without specifying a timeline.
Dabur: Jefferies on Dabur maintains Buy, Target Price cut to Rs 535; Domestic volumes remained broadly steady and international growth was strong, but margins missed estimates due to higher operating expenses. HPC and Foods performed well, while Healthcare faced regulatory challenges. Jefferies flagged the upcoming leadership transition following CEO Mohit Malhotra’s resignation and awaits management commentary on strategy and outlook.
Dabur: HSBC on Dabur maintains Hold, Target Price Rs 426; Q2FY27 revenue was in line, while EBITDA came in 1–2% below consensus. India FMCG volume growth stood at 5.5%. CEO Mohit Malhotra will resign effective November 13, with India CEO Herjit Singh Bhalla continuing in his role.
Dabur: Citi on Dabur maintains Sell, Target Price Rs 380; Q2 revenue, EBITDA and recurring PAT grew 12%, 8% and 11% YoY, respectively, with domestic growth supported almost equally by volumes and pricing or mix. Performance was broad-based across segments, while premium brands now contribute 20% of domestic business. Citi will monitor whether the CEO transition leads to any changes in strategic priorities.
Biocon: Kotak Institutional Equities on Biocon upgrades to Add, Target Price Rs 390; Q2FY27 missed estimates due to deferred biosimilar shipments and slower generics growth, although management continues to expect a strong second half led by recent biosimilar launches. Kotak expects 15% biosimilars sales CAGR and 17% EBITDA CAGR over FY26–29, supported by market-share gains, new launches, insulin capacity expansion, improved growth and debt reduction. Recent stock price correction has improved the risk-reward.
Aurobindo Pharma: Citi on Aurobindo Pharma maintains Sell, Target Price Rs 1270; Q2FY27 EBITDA and PAT beat estimates by 8% and 9%, respectively, driven by 19% constant-currency growth in Europe, better-than-expected US traction and currency tailwinds. US sales rose 20% QoQ to US$477mn, largely due to the Lannett consolidation, while EBITDA margin remained flat at 21%. Citi remains cautious about the sustainability of European growth amid market saturation and pricing pressure.
Zydus Lifesciences: Bernstein on Zydus Lifesciences maintains Buy, Target Price Rs 1457; Q2 revenue grew 29% YoY to Rs 79.1bn, ahead of estimates, although higher-than-expected spending ahead of the Saroglitazar launch weighed on margins. EBITDA margin was 24% against an estimated 25.5% excluding these investments. Bernstein reiterated its positive view on the innovation pipeline and expects an earnings inflection in FY28.
Zydus Lifesciences: CLSA on Zydus Lifesciences maintains Outperform, Target Price Rs 1390; Q2 revenue grew 29% YoY, driven by healthy performance across segments, while margins remained in line with guidance despite continued investment in the Saroglitazar launch. Management retained its FY27 guidance of single-digit US revenue growth, driven by new launches, and expects India to continue outperforming IPM growth. The company expects margins of 24% or higher.
Apollo Hospitals: Citi on Apollo Hospitals maintains Buy, Target Price Rs 10770; Q2 consolidated revenue, EBITDA and PAT grew 23%, 29% and 32% YoY, respectively. Hospitals revenue increased 23%, driven by 14% inpatient volume growth and an 8% rise in ARPP, while HealthCo EBITDA grew 75% and its digital business turned cash-positive for the first time. Strong hospital demand, improving HealthCo profitability and the bed-expansion pipeline support the outlook, while oncology trade-margin caps and regulatory notices remain key areas to monitor.
Apollo Tyres: Citi on Apollo Tyres maintains Buy, Target Price Rs 510; Q2FY27 standalone India results exceeded estimates, offsetting weak performance in the European business. The India earnings beat was supported by stronger-than-expected revenue growth despite weaker gross margins, while European margin pressure compounded revenue weakness. Citi will monitor India demand, competitive intensity, volume and pricing trends, raw-material costs and the sustainability of cost optimisation.
BSE: UBS on BSE maintains Outperform, Target Price Rs 4050; Q2FY27 results exceeded estimates, with cash equities outperforming and normal-rate revenue growth accelerating. Lower regulatory and operating expenses as a percentage of sales supported the margin beat.
BSE: Bernstein on BSE maintains Underperform, Target Price raised to Rs 3180; Q2 earnings exceeded expectations, supported by lower contributions to the Settlement Guarantee Fund, while the impact of CAS was reflected in softer volume growth and market-share trends. Bernstein remains concerned about the sustainability of BSE’s high growth as market-share gains peak and valuations normalise.
BSE: JPMorgan on BSE maintains Overweight, Target Price Rs 3960; Q2 revenue rose 34.1% YoY to Rs 14.33bn, while EBITDA increased 43% YoY to Rs 9.73bn, with margins expanding to 67.9% from 63.7% a year earlier. Net profit excluding CDSL’s contribution rose 45.7% YoY to Rs 7.83bn, supported by higher other income.
MCX: Macquarie on MCX maintains Outperform, Target Price Rs 3830; Q2 results comfortably exceeded consensus expectations, with business momentum continuing to accelerate as awareness and acceptance of the niche asset class increase.

Crypto market analysis for today by Delta Exchange
“Bitcoin and Ethereum rebounded after the U.S. midterm results eased election uncertainty, while U.S. stocks rallied, oil fell sharply and Treasury yields eased.
Bitcoin is near $80,500 after recovering from around $75,600; Ethereum is near $2,426. Both rose above the key EMAs with volume expanding on the move.
CoinGlass reported $830.69 million in liquidations affecting 106,231 traders over 24 hours. That forced repositioning likely amplified the rebound.
Bitcoin ETFs recorded a modest $35.1 million inflow on Nov. 4 after three sessions of heavy outflows, while recent ETF demand remains a concern.
BTC needs to hold $79,000 and clear $81,700–$82,000; ETH needs to hold $2,397 and break $2,440–$2,450. Continued spot buying and ETF inflows would make the recovery more convincing; otherwise, a pullback toward support remains possible.” - Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst, Delta Exchange

WazirX trade desk report by founder Nischal Shetty (5 November)
“Bitcoin’s recovery above $80,000 reflects improving risk appetite, although sustained buying will determine whether the rally holds. Bitcoin traded near $80,680, gaining approximately 4.9% over 24 hours, while Ether rose 7.3% to around $2,429. Total crypto market capitalization reached $2.69 trillion, with a trading volume of $94.74 billion. The Fear and Greed Index stood at a neutral 43.
The recovery coincided with a strong session for US equities. The Dow gained 3.03%, the S&P 500 advanced 1.58% and the Nasdaq climbed 1.44%. The VIX fell more than 20% to 16.61, signalling an easing in demand for protection against market volatility.
Short covering amplified crypto’s rebound. More than $415 million in liquidations was reported within an hour as Bitcoin reached $80,000, including approximately $330 million in short positions. Separately, the supplied 24-hour snapshot recorded $983.34 million in liquidations.
The reported Democratic sweep of Congress brings the pace of US crypto legislation into focus. Bitcoin’s recovery suggests investors absorbed the immediate election uncertainty, although the policy outlook remains a factor for the industry. Futures volume increased 27%, against a 3% rise in open interest.
Institutional demand remains a watchpoint. Tuesday’s reported outflows of $115.6 million from Bitcoin ETFs and $85.4 million from Ether ETFs indicate that the price recovery has yet to receive consistent support from that channel.
For Bitcoin, sustaining $80,000 and clearing $82,000 would strengthen the recovery case. The 76,000–78,000 area remains a downside reference zone, followed by $75,000.“
